VIDEO BRIDGE: A leap into the past through images of the present
The project "Video Bridge" aims to explore, research, and document through video the cultural and artistic heritage in the wider area of Gorizia region with an emphasis on content, which for diverse reasons is not represented and known to the broader public. The project will be focused on architectural facilities, (churches, castles, roads and other monuments), which because of their poor state of preservation are not sufficiently part of the systemically and official maintained cultural and artistic heritage. The objective is the active involvement of young people with fewer opportunities in discovering and documentation of historical and cultural traces in their home region. Beside the five members of the "Video walkers", who will lead and mentor the video workshop, other two students or already established experts in the field of history and archeology will be invited as professional assitance. The workshop will focus primarily on elementary school population (13-15 years old) who are attending customized learning programs due to learning problems. The activities will be divided into two main phases; the preparatory works and the fieldwork. In the first part we will introduce participants to the basics of historical and architectural legacy of Gorizia area and the basics of video technology, while the second part of fieldwork will be dedicated to the filming proces of documenting and in the final stage processing the gathered material. In eleven months, as the project takes, we will try through non-formal learning methods and an interdisciplinary approach to present young people their own cultural and historical environment and introduce them in the usage of modern media language and the basics of video technology and their practical use for the purposes of videodocumentation.
